Hartwell Manufacturing is a family-run engineering business with nearly 50 years of experience delivering high-quality acoustic enclosures and heavy steel fabrication projects. From our Sheffield facility, we support clients in the power, data centre and industrial sectors with engineered solutions built on precision, collaboration and reliability. The culture is hands-on, team-focused and proud of the work we produce.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Night Shift Production Manager to take ownership of our night shift operation at our Sheffield manufacturing facility.
Reporting into the senior operations team, you will be responsible for leading the production shift to ensure safety, quality, productivity and customer delivery targets are consistently achieved. This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll be expected to lead from the front, make informed decisions under pressure and create a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
You'll oversee the day-to-day running of the shift, ensuring labour is effectively planned, production priorities are met and resources are utilised efficiently. You'll monitor performance throughout the night, identifying issues before they impact production, resolving operational challenges and ensuring clear communication between shifts.
We're looking for someone who enjoys developing people just as much as delivering results. You'll coach and support Team Leaders and production employees, manage performance where required and help build a flexible, engaged workforce capable of meeting the demands of a busy manufacturing environment.
This role also plays a key part in driving continuous improvement across the business. You'll use production data, quality trends and shop floor observations to identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime, minimise rework and strengthen operational performance. We want someone who challenges existing ways of working, looks for practical solutions and is committed to making improvements that deliver measurable results.
The successful candidate will have previous experience leading production teams within a manufacturing, fabrication or heavy engineering environment and will be comfortable balancing day-to-day operational demands with longer-term improvement initiatives. You'll be a confident communicator, an organised leader and someone who sets high standards for themselves and those around them.
If you're an experienced production leader looking for an opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing engineering business, we'd like to hear from you.
