We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and market-leading builders merchant for an experienced and driven Branch Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to take full ownership of a high-performing branch, leading both operational excellence and commercial growth.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the branch, driving sales performance, developing the team, and ensuring exceptional customer service at all times. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic sales growth with strong operational control.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing branch team to achieve sales and service targets
- Drive sales growth by building strong relationships with new and existing trade customers
- Manage branch P&L, ensuring profitability and cost control across all areas
- Identify and capitalise on local market opportunities to increase revenue and market share
- Oversee all operational activities, including stock control, transport, and health & safety compliance
- Ensure the branch delivers outstanding customer service, maintaining high standards at all times
- Work closely with suppliers to optimise product availability and margin performance
- Implement company policies, procedures, and best practices across the branch
- Monitor and analyse sales performance, setting clear objectives and action plans
- Maintain a strong presence in the local market, representing the business and building its reputation
- Ensure effective workforce planning, including recruitment, training, and performance management
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork
About You
- Proven experience in a management role within a builders merchant or similar environment
- Strong commercial awareness with a track record of driving sales and profitability
- Excellent leadership and team development skills
- Operationally strong with a keen eye for detail and efficiency
- Customer-focused with the ability to build lasting relationships
- Results-driven, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
