About Us
We are a growing facilities management company with 2 regional offices, providing building maintenance services across commercial properties throughout Birmingham, North West and South East.
Due to continued contract growth, we are looking to recruit a skilled Fabric Engineer / Painter & Decorator to join our team covering sites within the Jewellery Quarter and surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive fabric maintenance works, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Fabric Engineer with a strong background in painting and decorating, general building maintenance, and property repairs within commercial environments.
Duties Include
- Internal and external painting and decorating
- Surface preparation, filling, sanding, and finishing works
- Minor plastering and patch repairs
- Basic carpentry repairs including doors, frames, locks, and ironmongery
- Basic plumbing repairs such as taps, toilets, and pipework maintenance
- Flooring repairs and general fabric maintenance
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks
- Reactive maintenance and fault rectification
- Completion of maintenance reports and job documentation
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
- Liaising professionally with clients, tenants, and site personnel
Essential Experience
The following experience will be considered:
- Previous experience as a Fabric Engineer, Maintenance Operative, Painter & Decorator, or Multi-Skilled Operative
- Strong painting and decorating experience
- Experience carrying out commercial building maintenance
- Knowledge of general fabric repairs
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, and plastering skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within commercial properties
Desirable Qualifications
- City & Guilds or NVQ in Painting & Decorating
- CSCS Card
- Health & Safety Qualification
- Experience within Facilities Management environments
