Higher Specialist Social Worker – Safeguarding Team
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Pay Rate: £42 per hour
Contract: 6 Months
Hours: Full-Time
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 Days per Week in the Office
Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Higher Specialist Social Worker to join a Safeguarding Team in Reading on a locum basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Children’s Single Point of Access (CSPA) Team, playing a key role in safeguarding children and ensuring families receive the right support at the earliest opportunity.
The Role
As a Higher Specialist Social Worker, you will be responsible for assessing contacts and referrals, identifying levels of risk, and making informed decisions to safeguard children and young people. You will work closely with partner agencies to ensure effective information sharing and timely interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake screening and assessment of referrals relating to children and families.
- Analyse risk and make safeguarding decisions in line with statutory guidance.
- Work within the Children’s Single Point of Access Team to ensure timely responses to concerns.
- Liaise effectively with schools, health services, police, and other partner agencies.
- Complete assessments, reports, and case records to a high professional standard.
- Participate in strategy discussions, multi-agency meetings, and safeguarding processes.
- Promote positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Significant experience within Children’s Safeguarding Services.
- Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Experience working within referral, assessment, or front-door services is desirable.
- Excellent communication and multi-agency working abilities.
