Attendance Officer – Secondary School

ANZUK Education is partnering with a well-established secondary school in South East London to recruit a committed and detail-oriented Attendance Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of attendance processes and work closely with pastoral teams to drive improvements in student engagement, punctuality, and overall attendance.

The Role – Attendance Officer
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of student attendance, ensuring accurate recording, timely follow-up on absences, and effective communication with families. The role plays a key part in identifying trends, supporting interventions, and promoting a culture of high attendance expectations across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily attendance process, ensuring registers are completed accurately and on time
- Follow up on absences by liaising with parents and carers
- Maintain and manage attendance data using the school’s MIS system
- Work alongside pastoral and safeguarding teams to address persistent absence
- Produce attendance reports and highlight key concerns to senior leadership
- Support whole-school strategies and initiatives to improve attendance
Role Requirements – Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience in an Attendance Officer role or similar within a school setting
- Demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills
- Be a confident communicator, able to handle sensitive conversations
- Have experience using SIMS, Arbor, or similar MIS systems
- Be able to work independently while contributing to a wider team
- Show a professional, reliable, and solution-focused approach
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Have a valid Right to Work in the UK
