Make a real difference, every day
At TACT, you’ll be part of a team offering open-door support for people in addiction recovery and those living with mental health difficulties. Through one-to-one support, groups, volunteering and training, you’ll help people build confidence, connection and hope. We’re experts by experience — we understand when others don’t. Our work is challenging, emotional, rewarding and occasionally chaotic! This is a role where you'll need to be resilient, authentic and comfortable working in an environment where humour, honesty and genuine human connection play an important role in recovery.
About the role
You’ll lead our front-line drop-in team with compassion, consistency and care. This is a hands-on role in a relaxed, supportive workplace where you’ll be doing challenging and important work every day. You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of our drop-in service and be one of the first people someone meets when they come through the door. We’re open from 9am to 5pm, so you’ll need to be ready to respond with warmth, confidence and good judgement — and prepared to deliver whatever support someone needs that day!
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting service users with one-to-one, person-centred, trauma-informed support; responding to people in crisis; signposting and partnership working with recovery, mental health and other support services.
- Line managing and supporting staff through supervision, rotas, team meetings and ongoing development.
- Coordinating volunteers, helping service users move into volunteering opportunities at TACT.
- Representing TACT at interagency meetings, forums and conferences.
- Maintaining a safe, well-run service by upholding health and safety, safeguarding and TACT policies.
- Managing records and reports, keeping information professional, accurate and up to date, and supporting KPI and impact reporting.
- Being a dependable team member who supports colleagues and helps keep TACT welcoming, safe and inclusive for all.
If you have these essential skills:
- Experience of working with people in recovery or with mental health difficulties
- The ability to build genuine, trusting, boundaried professional relationships
- The ability to maintain personal wellbeing and resilience through the effective use of workplace and personal support strategies
- Experience in delivering person-centred, trauma-informed support
- Proven line management experience
- Strong organisational skills, with the confidence to prioritise, delegate and motivate others
- Excellent communication and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- An open-minded, non-judgemental approach and the ability to think creatively
And even some of these desirable skills:
- Support qualifications including life coaching or counselling
- Experience of adult safeguarding
- Experience of delivering group sessions and activities
- Lived experience of addiction recovery or mental health difficulties
