Job Summary
We are seeking a Bank / Part time Care Home Chef to join our team. The successful candidates will be sent to Care Homes in our catchment area and will be in charge of running the kitchen during their shift and will prepare and cook the meals as per the requirements of each home. Food safety and maintaining a clean kitchen is paramount. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in practicing their culinary skills within a professional setting. Prior experience in catering, cooking, and basic baking is essential as these skills will be required for each shift. We would be looking for a 1 year minimum previous role in running a Care Home kitchen.
Responsibilities
- To provide nutritionally balance meals to the residents in the Care Homes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Help with the storage and rotation of ingredients to minimise waste
- Assist in serving meals to customers or staff as required
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Support the team during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, cooking and basic baking is required
- Knowledge of IDDSI and fortified meals is essential
- Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP are required
- Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Food Safety & Hygiene certificate (min) lvl2 is mandatory

- Our fixed rates of pay are £17ph Mon-Fri, and £21ph Sat & Sun
