Volunteering in Fundraising Department
Title: Fundraising Research Volunteer x 1
Reporting to: Trust, Legacy and Operations team
Location: Home-based (remote)
Time commitment: 4 days per month but flexible to suit the volunteer
Start: Flexible/ ASAP to be mutually agreed
We are seeking a detail-focused and enthusiastic volunteer to support our hospice fundraising team through research. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys discovering opportunities, working independently, and contributing behind the scenes to make a real impact on funding patient care and family support.
By helping us to identify Trusts & Foundations that align with our work and investigating their potential alongside that of new fundraising product ideas, you will play a key part in strengthening our future income and building long-lasting relationships
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify Trusts and Foundations that may be eligible to support hospice services and projects
- Explore funding criteria, deadlines, grant sizes, and priorities
- Help to explore the potential of new fundraising Ideas including events, campaigns, or products that have been suggested by internal stakeholders
- Identify any other fundraising opportunities or gaps in our portfolio that our competitors may be offering
- Compile findings into easy-to-read summaries
- Share research updates regularly and attend check-ins where appropriate
Who we’re Looking For:
You don’t need to be a fundraiser to thrive in this role. You may already have skills from work, study, or life experience
This role would suit someone:
- With an interest in fundraising, research, or the charity sector
- With strong internet research skills who enjoys discovering new opportunities, and working with information
- Who is organised, methodical and able to present findings clearly with good attention to detail
- Who is comfortable working independently and managing their / your own time while still feeling part of a wider team
- Who is friendly, reliable, and happy to collaborate with a supportive team
- Who is confident using email, spreadsheets, or simple documents
- Has access to a computer/ laptop and the internet
Previous fundraising experience is a bonus but not essential.
Whether you’re looking to build experience in fundraising or the voluntary sector, returning to work, recently retired, studying, or simply keen to use your existing skills for a good cause, your contribution will be truly valued.
