Job Overview
We are hiring a skilled and experienced Chef de Partie to join our growing team at The Mermaid, ahead of our opening just before Easter. The ideal candidate will want to be a part of an evolving operation, championing local produce and utilising seasonal ingredients to create a standout offering, whilst still keeping the essence of the pub in mind. Candidates will need either previous Chef de Partie or higher lever experience or two years Commis Chef experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to our recipes and standards
- Assist in the organisation and setup of workstations for meal preparation
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations
- Monitor ingredients stock levels and communicate needs for replenishment
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, including proper handling of food and equipment
- Collaborate with other Chef De Partie’s, the Sous Chef and Head Chef on specials.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and procedures. Food Hygiene Level 2 required (can be provided by us upon employment).
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in food techniques and trends
