We are looking for an
enthusiastic and skilled Butcher to join our award-winning farm shop team. You'll be working with high-quality locally sourced meat preparing a full range of cuts, maintaining excellent standards of food safety, and delivering outstanding customer service.
This role also involves receiving full bodies of beef and breaking them down in-house - so applicants must be physically capable and confident handling whole carcasses.
Key responsibilities:
- Cutting, preparing, and displaying meat products to a high standard. Breaking down whole bodies of beef and other carcasses
- Receiving meat deliveries (manual handling involved)
- Advising customers on cuts, cooking methods, and product origin
- Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards at all times
- Ensuring displays are well-presented, fully stocked, and appealing
- Supporting stock rotation and inventory management
- Helping to maintain a clean and well-organised butchery environment
- Working collaboratively with the wider farm shop team
- Weekend work is essential, as part of the regular rotation
Requirements:
- Ability to work confidently with knives and machinery
- Physically strong enough to handle full carcasses and cold room stock movement
- High personal standards of cleanliness, safety, and organisation
- Excellent customer service skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a busy, customer-facing environment
