SEMH Teacher (Primary) – Barking
Must hold QTS
We’re recruiting a Science SEMH Teacher for a specialist setting in Barking, supporting pupils who need structure and consistency. This will be a long term role.
The role
You’ll be teaching secondary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, delivering a creative, flexible curriculum that actually meets them where they are. Small classes. High impact. Real relationships.
You’ll be:
- Planning and delivering engaging, trauma-informed lessons
- Managing behaviour with confidence
- Building a rapport
- Working closely with support staff, therapists, and leadership
- Championing progress that isn’t always measured by test scores
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience with SEMH, SEND, PRU or alternative provision (big plus)
- Thick skin, big heart, steady hands
- Someone who sees behaviour as communication, not a personal attack
- Resilient, reflective, and realistic about the job
