Job description
Transferee Detective Constable – Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team (OCSET)
Are you an experienced Detective Constable looking for a rewarding new challenge? Do you want to play a vital role in safeguarding children and bringing some of the most dangerous offenders to justice?
Warwickshire Police's Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team (OCSET) investigates serious and complex offences involving the online sexual exploitation of children. Our work focuses on identifying and safeguarding victims, disrupting offenders and pursuing criminal investigations that protect some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.
As an OCSET Detective Constable, you will lead investigations from initial referral through to prosecution. You will manage complex enquiries involving indecent images of children, online grooming, and other forms of child sexual abuse facilitated through technology. This includes planning and leading warrants, arrests and suspect interviews, gathering and presenting evidence, working with partners to safeguard children, and developing robust case files for court.
This is a challenging but highly rewarding role. You will work within a supportive specialist team that values professional curiosity, investigative excellence and a relentless commitment to protecting children.
You will need strong investigative skills, the ability to manage competing demands and confidence in working within a fast paced environment where intelligence and safeguarding opportunities often require immediate action. You should be comfortable using technology and willing to undertake specialist training.
Experience of interviewing serious offenders, working alongside partner agencies, and involvement in child protection investigations would be advantageous.
We recognise that not all candidates may possess every skill or experience listed within the role profile. If you have strong investigative ability and can demonstrate transferable skills that would support success within a specialist child exploitation investigation team, we would encourage you to apply.
If you would like an informal discussion about the role before submitting an application, please contact Detective Inspector Daniel Freeman, Detective Sergeant David Moorman or Detective Sergeant Jag Gill, who would be pleased to discuss the opportunities available within OCSET and answer any questions you may have.
