We are working with a highly regarded specialist school supporting pupils aged 4–19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and associated medical needs. They also have a forest school attached and promote outdoor play.
The school provides a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to develop communication, independence and life skills through personalised learning programmes.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join the team.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils with complex needs in both classroom and practical learning environments. This is a hands-on role that may include personal care and physical support.
You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop communication skills and achieve their individual EHCP outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with severe and complex learning needs
- Assist in delivering personalised learning activities
- Support pupils with communication needs using visual supports, Makaton, PECS or AAC
- Provide personal care, including toileting, feeding and changing
- Support pupils with mobility needs, including use of specialist equipment (training provided)
- Help promote independence, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Monitor and record pupil progress
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists and parents
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety procedures
