We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Forest School Early Years Practitioner to join our dynamic team. This role involves delivering engaging outdoor learning experiences that foster children's development, curiosity, and confidence within a woodland environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere where children can explore and learn through nature-based activities. Previous nursery or early childhood education experience is desirable, along with strong management and leadership skills to support children's individual needs. A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation to outdoor locations. Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate outdoor learning activities aligned with early years curriculum standards
- Supervise children during outdoor sessions, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and social development
- Manage daily routines including snack times, rest periods, and personal care in an outdoor context
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and behaviour
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative programmes that enhance outdoor learning experiences
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding children's development and activities
- Lead by example in promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and safety protocols within the woodland setting
- Assist with organising resources, equipment, and outdoor spaces to ensure they are safe, clean, and stimulating
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a nursery or early childhood education setting
- Strong management and leadership skills to guide children’s activities confidently
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of child development principles relevant to early years education
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent are desirable
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for transportation purposes
- Passion for working outdoors and engaging children with nature-based learning methods
