Purpose of the Role
The Activity & Support Practitioner will play a key role in delivering engaging and meaningful short breaks sessions for young people aged 16 to 18 with additional needs.
The role focuses on creating positive experiences, promoting independence, and supporting young people to build confidence, develop friendships, and gain essential life skills within a safe, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Young People
- Provide both individual and group support during sessions
- Encourage participation in activities that promote independence, confidence and social development
- Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with young people
- Identify and respond to any personal care needs, including providing prompts for toileting and light support with clothing where required.
Activity Delivery
- Support the delivery of structured activities such as creative sessions, games, community-based activities and life skills development
- Encourage young people to explore interests and try new experiences
Safety and Safeguarding
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people at all times
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately
- Support young people with emotional regulation and behaviour where required
Promoting Independence
- Support young people to develop confidence and practical life skills
- Encourage positive peer relationships and social interaction
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with the Session Manager and wider team
- Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment
Pay: £13.00 per hour
