Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about Italian food, with a focus on delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of meals, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and supporting the overall kitchen operations during weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team when Giovanni (head chef) isn't there
- Create and pitch new dishes
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to menu specifications and quality standards
- Assist in the organisation and management of kitchen stations during service
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed
- Support with meal preparation, including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of orders
- Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages or needs to management
- Uphold high standards of presentation and taste in all dishes served
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar culinary role within a restaurant or hospitality environment
- Good knowledge of Italian food
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Experience with meal preparation across various cuisines is desirable
- Previous restaurant experience or serving background is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality
