We are seeking an experienced, reliable online Biology tutor to provide focused weekly lessons for a learner preparing for IGCSE/Cambridge examinations. The tutor will deliver 1–2 hours of one-on-one instruction each week, track progress, and prepare the learner for exam-style questions and assessment techniques.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1–2 hours of one-on-one online tutoring each week.
- Create lesson plans tailored to the learner’s syllabus, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Teach and reinforce core IGCSE/Cambridge Biology topics, practical skills, and scientific vocabulary.
- Provide exam preparation: past-paper practice, timing strategies, mark schemes, and feedback.
- Set and review short homework tasks and mini-assessments.
- Monitor progress and provide concise progress reports or updates to the learner/guardian.
- Communicate professionally and promptly about scheduling, lesson goals, and outcomes.
Required qualifications and experience
- Completed IGCSE/Cambridge international exams in Biology and achieved an A at A level (or equivalent Cambridge A*–A).
- Current university student or university graduate (science, education, or related degree preferred).
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience with IGCSE/Cambridge Biology is strongly preferred.
- Strong familiarity with IGCSE/Cambridge exam formats, mark schemes, and practical assessment requirements.
- Reliable internet connection, suitable online teaching setup (camera, microphone), and ability to use video-conferencing tools (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet).
- Resident of South Africa (must live in South Africa).

- Ability to explain complex concepts in simple, exam-focused terms.
- Comfortable creating and assessing past-paper style questions and providing actionable feedback.
Terms and compensation
- Part-time, freelance/contract basis.
- 1–2 hours per week; exact schedule to be agreed.
