Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality care to our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care and a strong understanding of the needs of the elderly, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of support.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients with meal preparation and dietary needs.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with challenging behaviours.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring hygiene standards are met.
- Document client progress and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients and their families.
- Assist with mobility and heavy lifting as needed to ensure client safety.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or support work within assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and senior care practices is essential.
- Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary.
