Job Title: School Caretaker
Location: Poole
Job Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 (52 weeks per year)

Advantage Education are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to support the safe and efficient running of a busy educational site. The successful candidate will help maintain buildings, grounds, and facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe and well-managed environment for staff and students.
This role involves a mix of site security, general maintenance, and hands-on facilities support, working closely with the site management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily site security, including opening and locking buildings and responding to callouts
- Undertake minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g., plumbing, lighting, furniture) and report major issues
- Support health & safety compliance and identify potential hazards
- Assist with heating, lighting, plumbing checks and arrange testing where required
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas (litter removal, snow clearing, basic grounds upkeep)
- Support cleaning standards, waste disposal, and stock control of supplies
- Set up and clear rooms for meals, assemblies, and events
- Receive, check, and distribute deliveries safely
- Maintain accurate records including logs, inspections, and meter readings
- Work professionally with staff, contractors, and visitors while maintaining confidentiality
Requirements
- Previous experience in maintenance, caretaking, or facilities work
- Practical skills in general repairs and site upkeep
- Ability to work independently and respond calmly to changing priorities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and reporting
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to high standards
Health & Safety
- Follow all safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
- Carry out risk-aware working practices and report hazards immediately
- Support the creation of a safe environment for all site users

To work with Advantage Education as a Caretaker, you need:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or happy to apply for one with Advantage Education.

Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
