We're recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established flexible packaging manufacturer based in Corby, for a Health & Safety Assistant to join their team.
What you'll be doing (full training and mentoring provided):
- Carrying out workplace inspections and safety audits to spot hazards and improvements
- Helping with risk assessments and making sure control measures are in place
- Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations and follow-up actions
- Helping deliver H&S inductions and toolbox talks to staff, contractors and visitors
- Keeping health & safety records, reports and documentation accurate and up to date
- Supporting emergency procedures, drills, first aid and equipment checks
- Promoting a positive, proactive safety culture across the site
What we're looking for:
- A genuine passion for health and safety — this matters to us more than experience
- Some hands-on awareness of safe working, even if picked up as part of another role (warehouse, production, site work, etc.)
- A confident, clear communicator who's comfortable talking to people at all levels
- Eager to learn, proactive, and reliable with good timekeeping
- Organised, with strong attention to detail
- Happy to be on your feet and out on the floor in a manufacturing environment
- IT literate, confident with Microsoft packages
Nice to have (not essential):
- A health & safety qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH) or a first aid certificate
- Awareness of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Previous time in a manufacturing, warehouse or production setting
