Ideal Requirements for a Superintendent Pharmacist
- GPhC-registered Pharmacist eligible to be named as Superintendent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pharmacy leadership or management.
- A patient-focused mindset with clinical and business acumen.
- Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification preferred – but support available for the right candidate.
Role Responsibilities for a Superintendent Pharmacist
- Full legal and professional responsibility for the pharmacy’s operation in line with GPhC standards, NHS regulations, and all relevant legislation.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including prescription services, controlled drugs, SOPs, stock control, and supplier coordination.
- Introduce private services such as vaccinations and clinical services.
- Ensure the pharmacy is a welcoming environment for staff, patients, and university placement students.
