About RC Shearlaw & Son:
We are a progressive and award winning dairy farming business based near Straiton in South Ayrshire. We milk 460 cows with a focus on having healthy profitable cows which produce milk from grass and forage. The farm is very well invested with a new dairy unit constructed in 2017 which includes a new cubicle shed and 32/64 milking parlour with a butt pan and automatic handling facilities.
The farm is 560 acres which is predominantly grassland and our cows are managed on a split block calving system.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work as part of a team of three to milk and supply fresh bedding to our herd of 460 milking cows twice daily. The candidate will also be expected to help with the feeding and management of our youngstock.
This work is carried out in split shifts from 5am to 9.30am in the morning and from 3pm to 6pm in the evening.
The candidate will be expected to work 12 days on 2 days off (every other weekend off).
Development of skills will be encouraged.
Qualifications:
Full Driving license.
Experience of milking cows is essential.
Most importantly the successful candidate will have a good attitude, have a genuine care for our animals and be willing to work as part of our team.
The successful candidate will have a track record of being reliable and a good team player.
Working Hours and Holiday Entitlement:
0500-0930 and 1500 - 1800
Based on working the hours noted above the candidates will be entitled to 33 paid holiday days per year.
Pay
The successful candidate will be paid by the hour, the rate of pay will be based on their ability. Wages paid weekly.
