Vacancy:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Support Worker to join our team in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. You will play a crucial role in supporting and mentoring adults who live within our homes, helping them to navigate challenges and achieve their personal goals and chosen outcomes.
Our care team are there to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, supporting them and reduce and manage any incidents.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for a Support Worker
- Build strong, positive, nurturing, professional relationships with our clients, offering emotional and practical support to make them feel safe and valued.
- Assisting individuals with daily domestic tasks such as meal planning, cooking, shopping, cleaning, and managing household budgets.
- Provide sensitive assistance with hygiene, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility, while strictly maintaining the individual's dignity.
- Accompany individuals to social events, hobbies, work, or college, and helping them use public transport to stay active in their local area.
- Administer prescribed medication, monitor physical and mental wellbeing, and support attendance at medical appointments.
- Build trusting relationships, provide companionship, and implement Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) plans to manage challenging situations.
- Keep accurate daily records of progress, incidents, and financial transactions in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Empower and motivate residents to achieve their goals and overcome any difficult emotions and behaviours.
- Foster a positive, welcoming and supportive atmosphere within the home.
- Work professionally with all professionals and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for the people in your care.
What you’ll bring:
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference.
- A willingness to work towards the required qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Be, or become registered with Social Care Wales and maintain that registration throughout your time with us
- Willingness to work your allocated shifts which include evenings, weekends, bank holidays including sleeps, to meet the needs of the people we care for.
- Positive role model – honesty and empathy are a must.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and a calmness.
