Graduate Academic Mentor (English & Maths Intervention Support) – September Start for the New Academic Year

Pay: £500–£530 per week

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and committed Academic Mentor (English & Maths Intervention Support) to support students within a college setting who are re-sitting their GCSE English and Maths qualifications.
This role is ideal for a graduate or aspiring educator who is passionate about supporting young people academically and pastorally at a crucial stage of their education. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students build confidence, improve attainment, and remain engaged with their studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted English and Maths interventions to students re-sitting their GCSEs
- Provide pastoral and academic mentoring to support student wellbeing, confidence, and engagement
- Support students with organisation, revision strategies, study skills, and exam preparation
- Build positive relationships with learners and encourage consistent attendance and participation
- Work closely with teaching staff, intervention leads, and pastoral teams to support student progress
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers where appropriate
- Monitor and track student progress, adapting support strategies as needed
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills with confidence supporting GCSE-level English and Maths
- Passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential
- Calm, patient, and confident when working with vulnerable or disengaged learners
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A strong pastoral approach with the ability to motivate and support students holistically
- Aspiring teacher or education professional (desirable but not essential)
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring, or pastoral role is advantageous
