The successful applicant will join a dedicated team providing parking enforcement, aiming to reduce the number of illegally parked vehicles in the borough, and promoting the free flow of traffic. The role involves carrying out patrols throughout the borough on a rota basis, either alone or as part of a team: with the use of a hand held computer you will check that regulations are being followed, and issue Penalty Charge Notices in accordance with legislation and council policy. You will often be the first point of contact for the public, providing guidance on parking matters as well general advice and information; as a representative of the council you will be courteous and professional at all times.
Previous experience in a customer facing role, and proven ability to handle contentious and occasionally volatile situations in a calm and diplomatic manner, will be advantageous.
Full training will be provided, including an industry standard WAMITAB qualification in Parking Enforcement.
Includes weekend work on a rota basis with enhanced pay.

- Have excellent inter-personal skills with experience in customer facing roles;
- Be friendly and approachable;
- Be resilient and able to remain calm in contentious situations;
- Have excellent attention to detail;
- Be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team;
- Be fit and able to walk long distances
