We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Air Conditioning Engineer to lead the maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of air conditioning systems across a range of commercial and industrial sites.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of HVAC systems, including splits, VRV, and VRF units. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality service, minimising downtime, and supporting junior engineers in the field. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer looking to take ownership of service operations while contributing to a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, and repairs on air conditioning systems, including splits, VRV, and VRF units.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs, ensuring minimal disruption to clients.
- Conduct site visits to inspect, test, and maintain HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with industry regulations, health & safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Support commissioning and system testing following installation where required.
- Mentor and provide technical support to junior engineers and apprentices.
- Liaise with clients to provide updates, technical advice, and recommendations for system improvements or upgrades.
- Identify opportunities for improving system efficiency and reliability.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in HVAC service, maintenance, and repair within commercial or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of air conditioning systems, including splits, VRV, and VRF.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Experience completing PPM schedules and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and industry standards.
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Relevant HVAC qualifications and certifications (e.g. F-Gas).
- Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Desirable
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or HVAC controls.
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring engineers in the field.
