Cornerways Homes is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Residential Support Worker – Team Leader to join our therapeutic children’s homes in Bedford.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading shifts, supporting colleagues, and building positive relationships with young people.
Working alongside the Manager and Deputy Manager, you will help create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where children feel supported, develop confidence and build resilience.
Our homes are small, well staffed and highly supportive, allowing staff to focus on what matters most — building strong relationships and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
Our Therapeutic Approach
Cornerways Homes works in partnership with Meadows Psychology Service, a clinical psychology-led service that supports our homes.
This includes:
- Psychological assessments within the first three months of placement
- Regular psychological consultation and reflective practice sessions
- Support developing trauma-informed therapeutic strategies
This approach ensures staff are supported when working with young people who have experienced trauma and adversity.
The Role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker – Team Leader, you will:
- Support the Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
- Lead shifts and guide staff teams to deliver high-quality care
- Ensure children’s care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans are implemented
- Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of young people on shift
- Support staff in managing incidents and safeguarding concerns
- Promote a calm, positive and therapeutic environment
Pay & Benefits
- £14.12 – £15.27 per hour
- £60 sleep-in payment per shift
- Overtime paid at 1.25x rate

Experience & Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children or young people
- At least 1 year at senior level within a children’s home
- Experience supervising or supporting staff teams
- Experience working with children who present challenging behaviours
- Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong communication and written skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people, staff and professionals
