Ernest Bevin Academy is seeking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational Head of Geography to join a committed and forward-thinking department. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented classroom practitioner who is passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and helping students develop a strong understanding of the world around them.
The successful candidate will teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4, and Key Stage 5.
About the role
You will play a key role in delivering an engaging and ambitious Geography curriculum that develops students’ analytical thinking, subject knowledge and curiosity about the wider world. You will join a collaborative department with high expectations for teaching, learning and student achievement.
Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering high quality lessons that support strong student progress
- Creating a positive, purposeful and inclusive classroom environment
- Assessing, monitoring and tracking student achievement effectively
- Using data to inform planning and improve outcomes
- Adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen teaching and learning
- Contributing to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities within the department
- Supporting the wider life of the school community
Person specification
The successful candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have strong subject knowledge in Geography
- Demonstrate effective teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with A Level teaching desirable
- Be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations of all students
- Have strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Be committed to inclusive education and raising achievement for all learners
- Be willing to contribute positively to the wider school community
