The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our team. You will work closely with teaching staff to support young adults with complex needs both in the classroom and during life-skills and community-based activities.
This is a varied, hands-on role that includes learning support, personal care and assistance with mobility and communication. You will play a key role in helping learners achieve their individual EHCP outcomes and develop independence.
Importantly, previous experience in an SEN setting is not essential. We welcome applicants with a positive, can-do attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for supporting young people. Full training and ongoing specialist SEN development will be provided free of charge.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group learning support
- Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes tailored to EHCP targets
- Support communication using visual aids, Makaton, PECS or AAC strategies
- Provide personal care, including toileting, feeding and changing
- Support students with mobility needs, including use of specialist equipment (training provided)
- Encourage independence, social development and community participation
- Monitor and record student progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and external professionals
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and a positive learning environment
What we’re looking for:

- Comfortable providing personal care
Desirable:
- Previous experience supporting individuals with SEN
- Previous experience in a care setting (e.g. care assistant, support worker, residential care)
- Knowledge of autism, PMLD or physical disabilities
