Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for young children in our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in a kitchen environment. Duties
- Prepare and cook meals suitable for young children, ensuring nutritional balance and variety
- Follow approved menus and adapt recipes as necessary to meet dietary requirements
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen activities
- Assist with meal planning and portion control to minimise waste
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and stock levels are maintained
- Assist with the organisation of mealtimes, serving food in a friendly and efficient manner
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Comply with health and safety regulations at all times during food preparation and service
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Experience working with children’s dietary needs is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience in a nursery, school, or childcare setting is advantageous
- Familiarity with meal preparation for groups, including portioning and presentation skills
- Experience working in restaurants or catering services will be considered beneficial
