Overview
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our Ofsted-registered Children's Home. This is a key role within the home, supporting the day-to-day running of the service while providing high-quality care and guidance to children and young people. You will act as a role model for the wider team, lead shifts, promote best practice and help ensure the home consistently meets Ofsted standards.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential childcare, excellent leadership skills, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and support the day-to-day operation of the children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with individual care plans, promoting the emotional, social, and behavioural development of children and young people.
- Support, mentor, and guide Residential Support Workers, providing leadership and promoting good practice.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times, recognising and responding appropriately to any concerns.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children, acting as a consistent role model and advocate.
- Support children with daily living activities, including education, appointments, personal care, recreational activities, and independent living skills.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records, including daily logs, incident reports, risk assessments, and care documentation.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and regular review of care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments.
- Liaise effectively with social workers, families, education providers, healthcare professionals, and other external agencies.
- Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that enables children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent recognised qualification) is essential.
- Proven experience working within a residential children's home, with experience in a senior or shift-leading role.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and children's home regulations.
- Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
- Competent in using IT systems for recording and reporting.
- Full UK driving licence is preferred.
- Flexible to work a rota including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and bank holidays.
