Job Purpose
To safely operate company HGV vehicles, delivering and collecting scaffolding materials, equipment and plant to and from customer sites while assisting with loading, unloading and general labouring duties. The role requires compliance with all road traffic legislation, company policies and health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities Driving Duties
- Safely drive company HGV vehicles in accordance with UK road traffic legislation.
- Carry out daily vehicle walk-round inspections and complete defect reports.
- Ensure all loads are correctly secured before transportation.
- Deliver and collect scaffolding materials, equipment and plant from customer sites.
- Maintain accurate delivery notes, collection sheets and vehicle records.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.
- Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy and presentable.
- Comply with Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive and Digital Tachograph requirements.
- Ensure the vehicle is always loaded within legal weight limits.
Labouring Duties
- Assist scaffolders with loading and unloading materials.
- Support scaffold erection and dismantling where required and authorised.
- Maintain tidy, organised and safe working areas.
- Assist with stock control and organisation within the yard.
- Carry out manual handling safely using correct lifting techniques.
- Help maintain company vehicles, equipment and storage areas.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Full UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence (or Class 1 where required).
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Good understanding of Drivers' Hours Regulations.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience within the scaffolding industry.
- Scaffolding Labourer experience.
- HIAB Certificate (preferred but not essential).
- Forklift Licence.
- CSCS Labourer Card.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet operational demands.
- Early starts and occasional late finishes may be be required.
