Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Crewe. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff, you will provide tailored support to students aged 11–16 with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEN.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and engaging in lessons.
- Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and independence.
- Adapt classroom resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents where appropriate.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Support students during lessons, transitions, and other school activities.
Requirements Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, support work, coaching, or youth work settings.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A patient, proactive, and compassionate approach.
- A genuine interest in supporting students with additional needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
- Previous experience supporting SEN students in a secondary school environment.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Team Teach or other behaviour management training.
