Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker who is fluent in Punjabi to provide high-quality care and assistance to our clients. This role involves supporting individuals within care homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes, ensuring their needs are met with dignity and respect. Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Administer medication in accordance with prescribed care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Support clients with dementia or Alzheimer's care, implementing behaviour management strategies
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and any changes in client condition
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive environment
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and safe living space
- Support clients with medical appointments and transportation as needed, including driving when required
- Follow health and safety protocols, including first aid procedures when necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to deliver comprehensive care
Skills
- Fluency in Punjabi is essential for effective communication with clients and their families
- Experience in nursing home, home care, or care home settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, and hospice care practices
- Ability to administer medication safely and accurately
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures
- Excellent behaviour management skills and patience when working with vulnerable individuals
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance or equipment handling
- Competence in meal preparation tailored to specific dietary needs
- Valid driving licence for client transportation purposes
- First aid certification is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided if necessary
