The Role
As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll support the delivery of end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while meeting all statutory requirements. You’ll work closely with colleagues across HR and Finance, providing high-quality support and resolving payroll queries.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately process payroll data each pay period in line with statutory requirements and internal deadlines
Support the end-to-end payroll process, including onboarding new starters and processing leavers
Input and maintain payroll data, including payments, deductions, absences and adjustments
Assist with HMRC submissions and retrievals
Prepare and upload BACS payment files
Issue payslips, P60s and P11Ds via ESS, mobile app or post
Perform payroll reconciliations and support audit activities
Maintain accurate payroll schedules and employee records
Manage payroll inbox queries and respond in a timely and professional manner
Support process improvements, system testing, and quality checks
Collaborate with the wider payroll team to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery
Provide guidance to employees and managers on payroll-related queries
Take ownership of your own development, building knowledge of payroll processes and legislation
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Relevant experience in a payroll position
Experience in a payroll or finance administration role
A good understanding of payroll processes (end-to-end knowledge is beneficial but not essential)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
The ability to perform payroll calculations (training can be provided)
Experience with SAP payroll (desirable but not essential)
Good communication skills with a collaborative approach
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and develop
An understanding of GDPR principles and confidentiality
Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Excel
