Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Nursery Practitioner to oversee the care and development of children within a 3-4 room nursery setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and working with young children. This role involves supervising nursery staff, ensuring high standards of childcare, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children’s growth and learning.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of nursery staff across 3-4 rooms, ensuring smooth daily operations
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote children’s development in line with early childhood education principles
- Maintain high standards of childcare, safety, and hygiene within the nursery environment
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff through effective communication
- Monitor children's progress and provide feedback to parents regularly
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and nursery policies
- Organise staff rotas, support professional development, and conduct performance appraisals
- Assist in resolving any behavioural or developmental concerns in collaboration with parents and specialists as needed
- Drive nursery vehicles for outings or errands when required
Requirements
- Proven experience in nursery management or senior childcare roles, preferably within a similar setting
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a team of early childhood practitioners
- Extensive knowledge of childcare practices, early childhood education frameworks, and child development stages
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Genuine passion for working with children and supporting their developmental needs
- Valid driving licence with the ability to drive nursery vehicles if necessary
- Experience working directly with children in a childcare or nursery environment is essential
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively
