Bench Joiner / Furniture Maker - Recycled Plastic Outdoor Furniture
BMS Products is looking for a practical, reliable workshop furniture maker / bench joiner to help manufacture outdoor furniture and signage from recycled plastic materials.
This is a workshop-based role in Torquay. The work includes making benches, signage, litter bins and other outdoor products from drawings, cutting lists and verbal instructions.
The role would suit someone with experience in joinery, carpentry, furniture making, fabrication, assembly or similar hands-on workshop work.
Main duties:
- Read and work from drawings, measurements and cutting lists
- Cut, drill, shape and assemble recycled plastic components
- Build outdoor furniture including benches, bins, planters and signage frames
- Use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely
- Check dimensions, fit and finish before products leave the workshop
- Help solve practical build issues and suggest improvements
- Keep the work area clean, safe and organised
- Handle and move materials safely, including some heavy lifting
- Work with the team to meet production deadlines
Requirements:
- Experience in carpentry, joinery, furniture making, fabrication, assembly or similar
- Able to read and understand drawings
- Confident using hand tools and power tools
- Good attention to detail
- Practical problem-solving ability
- Physically fit enough for workshop work and lifting materials
- Tidy, organised and reliable
- Able to work independently once trained
Desirable but not mandatory:
- Experience making outdoor furniture, signage, benches, bins or similar products
- Experience with recycled plastic, timber alternatives or sheet/board materials
About the role:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Based in Torquay
- Occasional overtime may be available depending on workload
- Pay dependent on experience
