Support Worker
Hours: Day shift 08:00am – 21:00pm including sleep (24hour shifts) or Waking night shifts are 20:45pm – 08:00am
Salary: Competitive rate depending on experience
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Support Worker to assist an individual in their daily life, promoting dignity, independence, and well-being. You will play a key role in providing personal care, practical assistance, and emotional support in a respectful and person-centred way.
This role involves providing one-to-one support in a home environment for a paraplegic client who sustained a brain injury at the age of 16. Experience working with individuals with Acquired Brain Injuries is not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
Main Responsibilities:
· Provide personal care including washing, dressing, and continence support.
· Assist with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, household duties, and mobility support.
· Supervise slide board transfers safely, following correct manual handling techniques.
· Encourage independence and participation in everyday activities wherever possible.
· Offer companionship and emotional support, building positive and trusting relationships.
· Escort to appointments and accompany to social or community activities as required.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date care notes and records in line with policies and procedures.
· Follow all mandatory training and best practice guidance, including manual handling, safe use of medical equipment, and condition-specific training.
About You:
· Experience in a care or support role (preferred but not essential – full training provided).
· Understanding of dignity, confidentiality, and person-centred care.
· Reliable, caring, and patient with good communication skills.
· Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development.
