Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Engineer / Cabling & AV Installation Assistant for a two-month contract to support the installation and maintenance of network and audiovisual systems. The successful candidate will work closely with our technical team to ensure seamless integration of telecommunication, networking, and AV equipment. Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of cabling systems, including Ethernet, fibre optic, and AV cabling.
- Use hand tools to prepare cables, connectors, and equipment for installation or repair.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to facilitate accurate system setup.
- Assist with the installation of telecommunication systems including VoIP solutions and CCTV cameras.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on network and AV equipment to identify faults or issues.
- Support equipment repair tasks and assist in maintaining system documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and organisational protocols during installation activities.
Requirements

- Good attitude, reliability, willingness to learn
- Able to work safely on active sites
- Proven experience or strong familiarity with Network/ Ethernet cabling or Interest in cabling, electrical work, or AV installation ,
- Practical knowledge of schematics reading, electrical wiring, and telecommunication infrastructure desireable.
- Hands-on experience with network installation, equipment repair, and electrical systems is desirable.
- Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently during installation tasks.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware components relevant to networked AV systems.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and technical procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in telecommunications or electrical engineering are advantageous but not essential.This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to develop their expertise in network infrastructure and audiovisual installations within a professional setting on a fixed-term basis.
Desirable (but not essential):
- DBS Check (advantage for education sites, but not mandatory)
- Any electrical training (e.g., college course, Level 2/3, or practical workshop experience)
Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
