Hours: Thursdays (4:00pm – 5:45pm, term time) in Breaston
Teaching Time: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Contract: Self-employed (sub-contracted basis)
Pay: £22.50 per teaching hour
We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and inspiring Theatre School Lead Teacher to join our ever-growing team!
This is an exciting opportunity to lead engaging theatre classes for students aged 11–16 years, covering singing, dancing and acting. You will play a key role in developing young performers, creating memorable productions and helping shape the future of our theatre school. There will also be opportunities to expand into additional classes as the school continues to grow.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to:
- Lead performing arts classes for young people aged 11–16 years
- Teach and develop skills in singing, dancing and acting
- Choreograph and create exciting performances for our annual productions with creative freedom
- Work alongside our other youth group teacher to develop showcase performances
- Inspire confidence, creativity and teamwork in young performers
- Become part of a growing and supportive performing arts team
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, fun and structured theatre classes
- Teach singing, dancing and acting to students aged 11–16 years
- Create, direct and choreograph performances for end-of-year productions (guidance and support provided)
- Collaborate with our youth group provider to develop performance pieces
- Supervise and safeguard students at all times
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians where required
- Deliver our annual Wellness Weeks using provided lesson plans
- Ensure safe practice in line with safeguarding and child protection policies
- Welcome students and help create a positive, inclusive and supportive environment
- Support the continued growth and development of the theatre school
Requirements
- Must be 18+
- Strong performing arts experience is essential
- Experience teaching or leading groups of young people is desirable but not essential
- Confident in teaching singing, dancing and acting
- Enthusiastic, reliable and passionate about inspiring young performers
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Up-to-date First Aid and Safeguarding training (or willingness to obtain)
