On-site role at Pulsant's data centre in Croydon
- Monday-Friday - 7.5 hours per day between the core hours of 8am and 6pm.
- On call responsibilities in addition
In this varied role you’ll act as a deputy for the Data Centre Manager (DCM), assisting and supporting them in the management and operation of Pulsant’s Croydon Data Centre. You will work closely with the 2 Data Centre Services Engineers, mentoring them to ensure correct standards are adopted and providing training as required. You will also provide support and assistance to external and internal clients, ensuring that their expectations are always met or exceeded.
Supporting the Data Centre Manager
- Ensuring the Data Centre is secure and compliant and appropriately resourced in and out of hours to support Pulsant clients, and report and respond to incidents should they occur in collaboration with the Data Centre Manager and compliance teams
- Lead the resolution of incidents with the relevant teams and ensure clear and timely communication and updates at all times
- Working with the project team to ensure well planned activities with a smooth delivery and handover of all client solutions
- Mentor, coach and support the Data Centre Service Engineers to deliver high quality service which meets Clients’ expectations
- Liaison and collaboration with contractors and suppliers to ensure requirements are clear and orders are at best value and to agreed timelines. Ensure stock levels are appropriate to support future demand
Client and 3rd party support
- Provide support to both external and internal Clients liaising positively and proactively with Clients in order to resolve any issues and exceed their expectations
- Perform system monitoring, environment monitoring, remote / smart hands activities on behalf of customers, 3rd parties and other Pulsant technical teams as required
- Maintain management of the 3rd party DCs and associated Clients
Health and safety
- Adhere to all policies and procedures ensuring records databases are kept updated, all related reports and checks are completed in a timely manner as per local procedures including the induction of new starters
- Ensure that Pulsant buildings are clean, safe, and secure by rigidly following safety and security procedures, and in conjunction with Pulsant accreditations and standards and logging faults and issues in line with procedures
- Ensure that the Incident management escalations process is followed as required
- Maintain a duty of care for everyone on site - immediately report any health and safety concerns, or anything unsafe or potentially dangerous to management and stop the work continuing
- Monitor and check plant and equipment and escalate problems or anticipated problems to ensure continued provision of service

Data centre experience - as a Data Centre Support Engineer (or similar) - including computer hardware troubleshooting and cabling work.
- Experience mentoring team members
- Client centric, with the ability to build strong relationship with internal and external clients
