Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Trade Counter Sales Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent service to customers, assisting with product selection, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations at the trade counter. This role offers an opportunity to develop sales skills within a dynamic environment, supporting both trade professionals and retail customers. Clean driving license is highly desirable to effectively communicate with a diverse customer base.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting products suitable for their needs
- Provide accurate product information and advice on usage and specifications
- Process sales transactions efficiently using the point-of-sale system
- Upsell complementary products to maximise sales opportunities
- Maintain organised merchandising displays to enhance product visibility
- Manage stock levels and assist with stock replenishment as needed
- Handle customer enquiries via phone or in person with professionalism and courtesy
- Ensure the trade counter area remains clean, tidy, and well-organised throughout the day
- Support inventory management tasks, including stock checks and order fulfilment
- Assist colleagues with general administrative duties to ensure smooth operations
Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts
- Effective time management to prioritise duties during busy periods
- Good phone etiquette when dealing with remote enquiries or orders
- Proven ability in upselling products to maximise sales opportunities
- Knowledge of merchandising principles to create attractive displays
- Ability to work well within a team and adapt quickly to changing priorities
Pay: £24,420.00-£32,000.00 per year
Licence/Certification:
- Driving license essential (preferred)
