D & S Healthcare Ltd is seeking dedicated and compassionate male support workers to join our specialist home care team in Clacton-on-Sea. You will be providing high-quality, person-centred support to a middle-aged gentleman living in his own home, who has mental health needs, a Learning Disability, and presents with challenging behaviours.
This is a 24-hour, 2-to-1 supported living placement, meaning you will always work alongside a colleague to deliver safe and effective care. This is a fulfilling and specialist role for individuals who are genuinely passionate about making a positive difference in someone’s life
. DAY SUPPORT WORKER — 3 Positions
Hours: 8:00am – 8:00pm | 48 hrs/week | £13.50/hr
Working as part of a 2-to-1 team providing daytime personal care, activities and support.
NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER — 2 Positions
Hours: 8:00pm – 8:00am | £13.50/hr
Providing overnight supervision and responsive support to ensure safety and comfort.Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker with D & S Healthcare Ltd, your duties will include:
- Personal care — assisting with all aspects of hygiene, grooming and daily self-care with dignity
- Toileting support — providing sensitive and respectful assistance as required
- Medication administration — administering prescribed medication safely and accurately in line with care plans and company policy
- Home maintenance — supporting the gentleman to maintain a clean, safe and tidy living environment
- Activities and engagement — planning and facilitating meaningful daily activities to promote wellbeing, independence and enjoyment
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) — implementing agreed PBS strategies and de-escalation techniques to manage and reduce challenging behaviours
- Mental health support — responding appropriately to mental health needs and following individual care and support plans
- Communication — maintaining clear records and liaising with healthcare professionals, family and management as required
Essential Requirements
All applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Male applicants only — this is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 due to the personal care needs of the client
- Minimum of 2 years’ UK working experience in a care setting such as Supported Living, residential care, or similar
- Demonstrable experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours
- Understanding of or willingness to train in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Knowledge of mental health conditions and Learning Disabilities
- Experience with or willingness to be trained in safe medication administration
- Empathetic, patient, non-judgemental and resilient approach to care
- Ability to work as part of a close-knit 2-to-1 team
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
- Enhanced DBS disclosure (or willingness to apply for one)Desirable (Not Essential)
The following would be an advantage but is not required to apply:
- Full valid UK driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years
- Access to client’s own vehicle — useful for supporting the client with community activities and appointments
Pay: £13.50 per hour
