Thamesway Group is a growing property services, facilities management, and construction consultancy business delivering projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East.
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Quantity Surveyor / Project Monitor to support our expanding portfolio of refurbishment, maintenance, compliance, and construction projects.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing commercial oversight, project monitoring, cost control, and contract administration across multiple projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation
- Reviewing contractor quotations and pricing submissions
- Conducting site inspections and project progress reviews
- Monitoring project costs, programmes, and risk exposure
- Preparing valuation reports and cost assessments
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Monitoring contractor performance and project delivery
- Assisting with procurement and contractor selection
- Producing client reports and commercial recommendations
- Ensuring projects remain within budget and programme targets
- Supporting dispute resolution and variation assessments where required
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' relevant industry experience
- Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts and procurement processes
- Experience monitoring refurbishment, maintenance, residential, or commercial projects
- Excellent commercial and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
One or more of the following would be advantageous:
- MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
- MCIOB
- MAPM
- Experience working with managing agents, housing associations, or facilities management companies
- Knowledge of JCT contracts
- Experience in project monitoring for lenders, investors, or asset managers
