Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and motivated Retail Sales Assistant (Key Holder) to join the team at Draco Bakery on a 20 hour contract. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about customer service, enjoys working in a fast-paced food retail environment, and can take responsibility for opening and closing the store.
As a Key Holder, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the bakery, ensuring excellent customer experience, maintaining high standards, and supporting the management team.
Duties
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
- Operate the till accurately, including cash handling and card payments
- Promote bakery products and upsell where appropriate
- Ensure displays are well-stocked, clean, and visually appealing
- Open and close the bakery following company procedures
- Ensure security of the premises, including locking/unlocking and alarm systems
- Take responsibility for store operations in the absence of management
- Monitor stock levels and assist with deliveries and stock rotation
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene
- Follow all health & safety and food handling regulations
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
- Support training of new staff where required
- Greet customers warmly and assist with product selection
- Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally
- Cashing up at the close of the business day
Skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Time management abilities to prioritise duties during busy periods
- Customer-focused approach with friendly phone etiquette
- Ability to upsell products tactfully while maintaining a positive customer experience
- Knowledge of merchandising principles to enhance product displays
