Days/Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend support)
Working Hours: 40hrs per week
Salary: £37,000 - £38,500 per annum depending on experience

Job Introduction
At Independents by Sodexo, we believe that every environment should be a place where people can thrive. We're looking for a hands-on Domestic Cleaning Manager to lead our cleaning operation at George Watson's College in Edinburgh.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cleaning Manager who enjoys leading people, maintaining high standards, and making a visible impact every day. We welcome applications from candidates with experience managing large cleaning operations and teams in a range of environments, with a strong focus on service excellence and people leadership.
What you'll do:
- Manage and develop a team of cleaning professionals, creating an engaged and high-performing culture
- Be visible across site daily, monitoring standards, coaching colleagues and supporting operations where needed
- Plan rotas, manage staffing levels, absence and annual leave
- Lead recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training for the cleaning team
- Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
- Manage cleaning schedules and workforce management systems
- Maintain strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, COSHH and company standards
- Manage cleaning supplies and budgets effectively
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience managing large cleaning teams
- Strong people leadership and performance management skills
- Experience working in a standards-driven or compliance-focused environment
- Knowledge of health & safety and COSHH regulations
- Experience conducting audits and risk assessments
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and deploy resources effectively
Desirable:
- Facilities Management or contract management experience
- IOSH, NEBOSH or FM-related qualifications
- BICS qualification
- Experience working with audit and compliance systems
