About the Home:
Stainton Way is a 65-bed residential care home comprising two dedicated units, providing care for older adults aged 65 years and above. The home offers residential care as well as specialist support for individuals living with early-stage dementia, ensuring that residents receive high-quality, person-centred care tailored to their individual needs.
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our team at Stainton Way Care Home and drive high standards of care and clinical excellence.
JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will:
- Be an experienced Senior Care Assistant and Team Leader.
- Ensure that high standards of person-centred care are consistently delivered to all residents, creating a welcoming, caring, and engaging environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Provide guidance and support to less experienced employees and assist the Home Manager in delivering quality services within agreed budgets.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of care provided to residents, ensuring that care plans are up to date and that residents receive appropriate medical and personal care at all times.
- Support the Home Manager in implementing company policies, procedures, and business objectives to drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare and maintain staff rotas to ensure safe and appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times.
- Conduct staff supervisions and appraisals in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all staff receive appropriate induction, training, and updates on safe systems of work, including Manual Handling and fire evacuation procedures.
- Monitor the wellbeing of residents, recognising changes in their needs and ensuring that care plans and records are updated accordingly.
- Act as a key point of contact for residents, relatives, visitors, and health and social care professionals, ensuring that concerns, complaints, and reasonable requests are addressed promptly and appropriately.
- Support the promotion and marketing of the Home alongside the Home Manager, maintaining effective relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals, and external organisations.
- Maintain a sound understanding of health and safety responsibilities, including knowledge of COSHH assessments and compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Promote professionalism, dignity, respect, and effective communication in all interactions with residents, visitors, and colleagues.
- Foster a positive and inclusive culture within the Home, encouraging teamwork and responding positively to reasonable management instructions.
- Oversee the quality and timely procurement of goods and supplies required by the Home.
- Attend and encourage participation in staff meetings and contribute to effective communication across the team.
- Support the Home Manager with recruitment and selection of staff.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, external inspectors and/or CQC as required.
- Identify training needs within the team and contribute to the development and delivery of the Home's training programme.
- Cover senior care staff when absent or on annual leave. This could include weekends at times or last minute
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant legislation and standards, including the Care Standards Act 2000 and CQC fundamental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Be part of the on-call rota for team leader along with the other Team Leader

PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT
Essential:
1. NVQ 3 or equivalent in care for care homes with a desire to work towards achieving NVQ 4 or Advanced Apprenticeship
2. Medication Management qualification or equivalent.
3. Previous experience working with the client group.
4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Computer skills are an advantage.
5. Demonstrate the ability to lead staff and act responsibly in the absence of the manager
6. Effective interpersonal skills to lead and guide staff
7. Up to date knowledge of H&S law including fire, moving & handling and COSHH
8. Have a positive attitude to developing staff and enhancing care of the residents
9. Able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of the National Minimum Standards & mandatory training needs of staff
2. Knowledge of the Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines for medication management in care homes
