ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Mechanical Workshop Technician at Composite Integration, you will work as part of a team, in a high value/low volume environment. This is not the typical factory assembly role-
You will be working from technical drawings and building machines and equipment from the ground up to the correct specifications and standards. Ensuring deadlines and targets are achieved.
Working from technical drawings, but also problem solving and coming up with solutions on non-standard machines and equipment.
What you’ll be doing:·
- Build standard and non-standard machines and equipment to a high standard.
- Happy to get involved in electrical work as needed whilst building machines.
- Complete tests of equipment as required ensuring equipment passes inspection, is safe and works correctly.·
- Accurately complete all relevant documentation correctly for each machine making sure all necessary information is captured.·
- Ensuring parts used and time spent have been correctly recorded on MRP.· Support design team with feedback on solutions to engineering design and problems as required.·
- Assist with any repairs and servicing of machinery on and off site.·
- Maintain a clear and clean working environment.·
- Maintain the safety of yourself and others within the workshop.·
- Ensuring safe working methods are used and that the correct PPE is also worn as appropriate for each task.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a motivated Mechanical Workshop Technician, who is happy to get involved with electrical wiring installation as well.
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re practical, resonate with our culture and have a desire to work in a clean, tidy and professional environment.
Qualifications, Training, Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at Grade C or above, including Maths, English and Science.
- Level 3 BTEC qualification in Engineering or relevant subject or minimum 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including a technology-based subject (desirable).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Theoretical knowledge of mechanical and general engineering principles.
- Practical hands-on experience of electrical and some mechanical machine and control panel building.
- Understanding of manufacturing, building, commissioning and testing of new equipment and the related flow of works.
- Demonstrable good manual handling skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret information and data for the proper performance of engineering projects.
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately and understand the importance of using document management systems.
- Good computer literacy skills, with the ability to use engineering related software systems.
- An eye for detail and a steady hand for precision assembly work.

- A completer finisher, who scrutinises for errors, and ensures work is to the highest standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and clearly articulate technical information.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to priorities work and manage multiple tasks and projects when needed.
- Confident with the ability to listen, ask questions and take the initiative where needed, challenge and raise issues or opportunities when they occur or are identified. Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable and flexible.
- The ability to work confidentially with sensitive commercial information.
- A collaborative mindset but equally happy to work on one’s own initiative.
- A strong desire for lifelong learning with a desire to maintain technical knowledge and seek out emerging engineering trends and concepts.
- Occasional travel. UK and international. Passport and Driving Licence.
