Do you enjoy working in a nurturing environment and supporting young children through the busiest part of their day? Smiley Stars Nursery is looking for a reliable, caring, and flexible Lunch Cover Early Years Practitioner to join our team.
About the Role
This role is all about being a steady, helpful presence during our lunchtime period. You’ll provide cover while team members take their breaks, support children during meals and rest times, and help reset rooms for afternoon activities. Your flexibility and care will ensure our nursery continues to run smoothly, even during the busiest hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Support with mealtime set-up, serving food, and cleaning up• Supervise and assist children during lunch and transitions to sleep or quiet time• Help prepare fruit and wash dishes, bibs, and cutlery• Re-set rooms for the afternoon and set up sleep mats• Step into any playroom where help is needed, adapting as part of the wider nursery team• Maintain a calm, caring, and professional presence throughout
What We’re Looking For
- A warm, caring nature and a flexible, positive attitude• Experience working with young children (desirable)• Good communication and teamwork skills• Awareness of hygiene, child safety, and infection control• PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to apply)
