We are seeking to recruit a B6 RGN to our Primary Health department which serves the population of patients within our Forensic Medium Secure hospital in Rotherham.
You will lead a small team of primary health staff in delivering evidence based primary health care to our patients day to day and providing support and guidance to our mental health nursing teams in ensuring robust physical health care plans and support is in place. You will be facilitating clinics with external clinicians and sharing information both outwardly and internally to ensure all patients physical health needs are met in a timely manner. You will be expected to ensure there is good governance around the teams performance and output.
You will be working for a large NHS trust as part of their Forensic Care Group and in 1 of 4 Forensic regional secure units. Wathwood Hospital is a purpose-built, 78 bed adult, male, medium secure hospital in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Located in its own grounds and surrounded by open countryside and woods, it caters for those aged between 18 and 65 who require assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties in a secure environment.

This role requires a registered general nurse to lead and work as part of a team delivering care to patients within Wathwood Hospital.
You will provide leadership to the psychical healthcare team by maintaining professional standards and ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures, to ensure the delivery of high quality care.

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of physical healthcare for patients.
Use own initiative to solve problems and respond effectively to issues within the department.
Respond to healthcare emergencies within Wathwood in accordance with the Trust's and local policies and procedures.
Provide a triage service and clinical interventions, recognising environmental limitations and the need for appropriate referral, assessment and transfer of patients who require care within wider NHS provision.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
